Motor is a Daedong (they are mostly all imported now). I did get 4 wheel drive and would recommend that to everyone. I have a box blade, disc harrow, 6' shedder and the log splitter and it accommodates them all quite well. I wanted one that was big enough to move round bales and it does a good job with that. I have not had a single issue with mine and have been very happy with it. You can find a JD, Kubota, New Holland dealer much easier than a Kioti dealer. Maybe your friend lives close to a reputable dealer that will be around if something does happen. You don't have number of dealers so if you have a warranty issue you may have a drive on your hands. The dealer I got it from was also a JD dealer so comparing the two was easy. I have never used it but thought about a belly mower at one time. I knew I was going to keep it for a long time so I wasn't as concerned about resale value. I don't remember the exact specs but it had a better lift rating than the comparable JD. I use the rear hydraulics for my log splitter. It's branded Cub Cadet but Kioti made them back in 2004 when I purchased it.
